Learn About Tire Service at Annapolis Nissan

Our Nissan service department is more than equipped to take care of your vehicle, especially when it comes to your tires. Our team has compiled a list of frequently asked questions about tires to help you stay well-informed on any replacements or repairs you may need to help keep your vehicle mobile.

DOES ANNAPOLIS NISSAN CARRY QUALITY, MAJOR BRAND TIRES?

Yes, we carry most major brands of tires, including Michelin, Goodyear, Yokohama, Dunlop, and Bridgestone. We intentionally do not carry poor quality, no-name brands that some tire stores use as price leaders.

WHY DON'T YOU CARRY SOME OF THE TIRE BRANDS THAT ARE ADVERTISED AT PRICES THAT SEEM TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE?

Experience has shown that some of these tires are inferior in ride quality and longevity, ultimately disappointing consumers. These tire brands include Sumitomo, Sailun, Fuzion, and other private label tires available from wholesale clubs.

DOES ANNAPOLIS NISSAN OFFER REBATES FROM MAJOR TIRE MANUFACTURERS THAT I HAVE SEEN ADVERTISED ON TV?

Yes, in fact, Annapolis Nissan promotes these rebate offers when they are available. Many of these rebates and special offers will be found on signage in our waiting areas and on our "Specials" pages on our website.

DOES A ROAD HAZARD WARRANTY COST EXTRA AT ANNAPOLIS NISSAN?

Some tires require the purchase of a road hazard warranty, with many tire dealers quoting a lower price on the tire itself but add $12 to $15 per tire for a road hazard warranty.

WHAT DOES THE ROAD HAZARD WARRANTY COVER AND INCLUDE?

The warranty covers the tire for two years; 100% for the first year and prorated based on tread depth for the second year. Additionally, the road hazard warranty covers flat tire repair at no charge per occurrence at Annapolis Nissan only. Other Nissan dealers will charge fees over $20.00 per occurrence.

IS THERE A SEPARATE CHARGE FOR MOUNTING AND BALANCING?

The charge for mounting and balancing is $35.00 per tire ($45 for run-flat tires). Beware of some competitors who claim that mounting is free, especially be wary of “on the rim and out the door” types, who will charge you more to balance your tires. We balance every tire we mount, including it as a part of the service.

HOW DO I FIND OUT IF YOU HAVE THE CORRECT TIRES FOR MY VEHICLE IN STOCK AND GET A PRICE QUOTE?

Call our parts department at 443-323-0061, where one of our representatives can match you with the perfect tire for your specific vehicle, in addition to offering you several options at different price points. Utilizing our Tire Center is another easy way to check on availability of tires and your cost.

WHAT IF YOU DON'T HAVE THE TIRE I WANT IN STOCK? CAN YOU GET IT FOR ME?

As part of the national Nissan tire program, Annapolis Nissan can usually get you the tire you need or want within 24 hours. If we don't already have it in stock, we'll make sure to get it for you.

IS IT EASY TO SEE WHEN MY TIRE PRESSURE IS LOW?

Tire pressure is very difficult to judge by sight alone, with it possible for a tire to be well under 50% inflated before it's noticeable to the eye. This is why it's so important to check your tire pressure monthly with an accurate tire gauge. Come into Annapolis Nissan service anytime we're open and we'll check your tire pressure for you at no cost.

WHAT IS TPMS?

TPMS, Tire Pressure Monitoring System, is an electronic system that alerts you with a dashboard indicator light when your car's tire pressure falls to the point of needing inflation.

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF MY TIRE PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT IS ILLUMINATED ON MY DASHBOARD?

The light signals that one or more of your tires may have lost pressure, possibly including the spare tire. Our technicians can quickly inspect and diagnose the cause for the low pressure and reset the dashboard indicator light.

WHY DID MY TIRES WEAR SO QUICKLY?

Premature tire wear may be caused by many factors other than tire rotation. Some examples are as follows:

  • Improper inflation
  • Driving conditions
  • Misaligned vehicles
  • Worn vehicle parts
  • And many other reasons

Without physically inspecting the tires it is difficult to make a determination as to why your tires may wear prematurely, so to help with your tire inspection come in and get a complimentary instant four-wheel alignment check, no appointment necessary. It could be the best invested 60 seconds you have ever made.
